Toshihiro Nagoshi’s Yakuza dev team is reportedly working on a new PS3 entry in the series alongside the upcoming PSP game.
The series creator again made the announcement in an interview with Famitsu. He was vague on the details, but although they’re sticking to a “Yakuza New Project” title now it looks like it’ll be a main entry in the series.
Andriasang notes that the interview seems to show Nagoshi carefully describing the eyepatch-wearing Mashima Goro as a playable character, which could hint at multiple playable characters. The series’ three pillars — drama, adventure, and battle — will be unchanged, but the dev team is looking at fresh new ways to play around them.
Nagoshi promised more info at TGS this September, which coincidentally is when Black Panther Yakuza New Chapter launches in Japan.
