Next-gen gaming handhelds banned from Japanese airplanes
Gamers in Japan will no longer be able to play with their next-gen gaming handhelds on Japanese airplanes due to a revised law that took effect yesterday. This according to OLGn.
The law enforces an earlier ban and affects gaming systems with built-in wireless functions such as the Nintendo DS and the Sony PlayStation Portable. Apparently, Japan’s transport minister has declared that the handhelds’ wireless functions could interfere with aircraft navigation systems.
Laptops are still allowed, but flyers will not be allowed to use wireless mice and headphones not provided by the airlines. Those who can’t stand to fly without getting some gaming action can still bring their old Game Boys, as these handhelds aren’t covered by the ban.
