Next-generation: the Armored Core 4 trailer

There’s one thing you can say about the PS3’s power: it makes giant robots look tons more menacing, and a whole lot shinier to boot. Of the many different games you can think of that showcase robots shooting robots, the definitive Gran Turismo of the bunch has to be the wonderfully customizable Armored Core series.

From Software has released the latest trailer for the next-generation Armored Core 4, and we’re definitely impressed. Besides the sleek moving ACs firing rockets and machine guns, there seems to be a lot more screen for people to use in the actual game during the gameplay segments. That, and everything just feels a lot faster in this next-gen version of the game.

As always, the GT aspect of Armored Core 4 looks to make the micromanager and mech mechanic in every gamer come alive. Of course, the same restrictions on weight and maneuverability apply, so don’t expect to see flying tank ACs coming out in this game. Still, for all its worth, this is definitely a worthwhile trailer to watch while waiting for 2007 to roll by. For the lucky Japanese gamers brandishing Sony‘s console though, Armored Core 4 comes out on December 14.
