The story’s simple. Nexuiz, the leader of the Rhore clan managed to defeat neighboring clans Ginsang and Targlies. The mission is to prevent the Nexuiz overlord from conquering the rest of the world. It has a single player campaign but Nexuiz is primarily a multiplayer game.
Nexuiz was originally a Quake1 mod by Lee Vermuelen; Forest “Lordhavoc” Hale later joined the project and his DarkPlaces Quake1 engine was used. This is also extremely modder friendly. It was developed by Alientrap Software and distributed under GNU General Public License”>GNU GPL. It runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X on minimal system requirements. The current version weighs about 15.25 MB.
