Ninja Theory: PS3 devving “an interesting ride”

Lemme count the ways... eight. - Image 1When asked by Eurogamer about their experiences in working with the PS3, Heavenly Sword‘s Ninja Theory gave a similar answer to other PS3 developers, citing both the challenges and the opportunities in the Cell. Besides saying “it’s an interesting ride,” they likened it to the Marianas Trench, deepest spot in the oceans. “There’s lots to explore and the deeper you get the more varied the life forms – sometimes horrific, sometimes beautiful” (Horrific, beautiful… Gollum likee the duality…).

Just like with other developers who’ve gone diving in the Trieste worked with the PS3, Ninja’s Mike Ball notes that this is only the beginning of what the PS3 can do “as developers become more and more familiar with the hardware.”

“Personally I really love the SPUs as they have exceeded our performance expectations and we’ve got a lot of them to play with,” he adds.
