Nintendo adds Sonic in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, moves game’s release

Super Smash Bros. Brawl update - Sonic confirmed, Japan release delayed - Image 1All rumors surrounding Sonic the Hedgehog and upcoming Wii video game Super Smash Bros. Brawl ends today. The official Smash Bros. DOJO! website has finally confirmed that Sega‘s most notable character will be joining the likes of Mario, Link, Solid Snake, and Samus Aran in the brawl of the decade.

The official website still doesn’t sport information regarding Sonic‘s moves, Final Smash and all, but they have some new screenshots to further whet the appetite of fans. In one image, we get to see Sonic slugging it out with Link. Another image shows the hedgehog going up against Nintendo’s mustached plumber.

As you all know, Nintendo is currently holding a conference in Japan. Despite the above mentioned excellent development, reports are saying that Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been delayed in Japan until January of 2008. There is still no word, however, if this will affect release dates for other markets.

Lastly, Nintendo has announced that the title will be sporting a co-op online feature but no details were provided. We’ll update as soon as something else comes up. In the mean time, just enjoy this brief trailer for Super Smash Bros. Brawl featuring Sonic the Hedgehog.
