It was unwittingly revealed yesterday by Engine Software that Nintendo’s download service WiiWare will go live by March of this year.
This detail came with the announcement of the company regarding its first game for the platform. However, Nintendo categorically said today that Engine Software’s statements about WiiWare are misleading.
As a matter of fact, Nintendo has yet to make an official announcement about the launch of the service. WiiWare, for those living under a rock for some time now, is the Nintendo Wii service that will provide players with compact downloadable games.
These can be likened to those that are available over at Xbox 360’s Xbox Live and PlayStation 3’s PlayStation Network. Nintendo has made clear before that it wants WiiWare titles to be short and creative to level the playing field between established developers and the small-scale ones.
It was also mentioned that there are plans to limit the total number of released titles per developer at a given time to avoid influx issues.
