If you’ve been closely monitoring the sales of the gaming industry all year round, you’ve probably known by now that the king of the gaming industry for this year is Nintendo. Ever since the onset of the year 2007, Nintendo Company Ltd. already managed to shove its foot in the proverbial door and quickly took hold of the gaming industry market early on with the Nintendo DS and the very successful Nintendo Wii.
Sales of the two far outshone those of rival competitors with recent articles stating that sales of the Wii clearly overtook the combined sales of its competitors while the DS, which fared weakly in the first half of the year, made a complete turnaround when it recently sold six million units of its revamped version, the DS Lite.
Because of this, both the DS and the DS Lite now account for sales of more than 50% of the consumer market, specifically in Japan. This clearly means that, as Nintendo holds on to that match of the Japanese market, its rival competitors fight over the other half of the demographic.
Much deserved props goes out to Nintendo who was seen as the clear underdog of 2007.
Do these sales figures imply the outcome of the end of 2007 for the gaming industry in general?
