Nintendo DS Lite Out By June 23 in Europe

Nintendo DS liteThis time we can say that it is official! In a recent announcement, the Nintendo DS Lite shall be the new addition to Nintendo’s video game family when it launches on June 23, 2006 in Europe. The DS Lite’s release was marred by some backfence talks about its exact release date, its price tag, and whether only the crystal white variant will be available in certain areas.

In Europe, the DS Lite will be available in two colours upon its launch – a sleek black edition and a cool, stylish white edition. The Ninty DS Lite retains the advanced touch screen technology, which enables players to control the software with a stylus or even their finger, as well as dual screens, voice recognition and Wi-Fi capabilities of the Nintendo DS but is now both smaller and lighter. Weighing nearly 60g less than the original, it is just two-thirds of the original size.

The redesign isnÂ’t only for aesthetic purposes, the DS Lite features adjustable screen brightness with four settings, a repositioned microphone for ease of use and a larger and more comfortable stylus. With its new design and unique features, this console is perfect for everyone regardless of age, gender and gaming skills.

Aside from this piece of good news, new titles for it was also announced. Some of the tiles include Dr KawashimaÂ’s Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? (launch date June 9), Nintendogs Dalmatian & Friends Edition (launching on 16th June), New Super Mario Bros. (launches on 30th June), Electroplankton (launching on 7th July), and Big Brain Academy (launching on 7th July).

As for its price tag, the Nintendo DS Lite was estimated to go for roughly £99.99 (around US$188). So mark your calendars, you have less than a month to penny-pinch (if you’re from Europe)!
