This is just through the grapevine, but sources close to Nintendo have told IGN that the company is getting ready to release the DSi in the United States during the first half of the year. Word has it that Nintendo and its partners will ship during April, most likely on the 4th. Insiders even reveal that the new handheld will be priced at US$ 179.99 upon launch.
So what’s the big buzz? For those who don’t know, the Nintendo DSi has a built-in camera, an SD Card slot, internal memory, as well as improved interface and access to DSiWare. Not much can be said about the looks, since it looks like the DS Lite.
When asked for comment, a Nintendo rep simply said that the company doesn’t comment on rumors and speculation. IGN, however, has verified this info from three independent sources. So until Nintendo makes the announcement, this one’s gonna be tagged as a rumor.
