Nintendo Goes to Korea

Korean Flag

Nintendo has announced its plans to expand operations in Korea. This will be a good move seeing as Korea is home to the most hardcore gamers on the planet. What do I mean? Well, let’s just say that the Slayers Boxer (a professional gamer) has drooling fan girls, bodyguards, autobiography (movie), and a six figure income. Yeah. Well, Nintendo is going to try and become more of an influence there by creating a “Nintendo of Korea.” It will function much like “Nintendo of Canada.” The new subsidiary will focus on localizing their products and marketing games and systems. They’ll be working to get the DS Lite into as many hands as possible and be ready for the Wii launch as well. The biggest improvement will be the addition of Korean language support to their systems – something that’s been stopping a large amount of Koreans from becoming DS addicts. We’ll see how things go when Nintendo of Korea opens up on July 7th.
