Nintendo: Miyamoto’s thoughts on retirement
It’s an ominous question, but it’s bound to be asked. When does Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto plan to retire? Only he would know, so the game producer was asked this during a recent interview.
He replied, “Don’t movie directors usually make films until they die? Annually, I don’t make that much money. So I don’t think I can retire.”
And while we won’t ask anything about his paycheck, we have to agree with Miyamoto’s first point. There’s much to be done in the upcoming days, with Miyamoto hinting at another possible Zelda game for the Wii.
There’s also the matter of the new Wii Fit game, which is expected to keep otherwise couch-bound players trim and fit. Mr. Miyamoto’s probably got plenty more to work on in the near future (especially post-E3). There’s the projects we’ve just mentioned, and the possibility that he’ll be working on something bigger that might leave its mark on society in the days/month/years to come. We’d like to ask the readers regarding this thought – what other works can we probably expect to see from one of gaming’s most influential people?
