Nintendo: no budget software for Wii
Despite Sony and Microsoft‘s move to provide budget priced software for their consoles PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Nintendo has currently no plans of putting out a cut-price range of software for its popular Wii console.
When asked about the possibility of publishing discounted games in the future, a Nintendo spokesperson said, “We have no plans for a Wii budget label. Wii software is performing very well at its current price points.” The spokesperson also explained that retailers dictate the prices for software and hardware, not Nintendo.
With the Wii soaring in the NPD console charts, it does look like it doesn’t have any reason to try and gain more sales leverage. But it would certainly help us gamers to get more chances to get quality discounted games.
