Nintendo Places 5th in Top 100 Developers

Develop Magazine released their list of Top 100 Developers according to the 2005 sales of their games in the United Kingdom. Nintendo placed 5th in the list, a move up from 28th the year before. The Nintendo DS and Nintendogs were noted as the largest reasons why.

“ItÂ’s a measure of the success of DS in the UK (as everywhere else) that Nintendo managed to jump 23 places this year. An amazing 79 percent of its revenue came from DS software, with the port of trusty old Super Mario 64 being the single biggest seller. But in true Pok?n-style, it was the three Nintendogs releases which really gained Nintendo places – over £6 million ($10 million) in a mere three months while Mario Kart DS and Wario Ware Touched! also performed well.”

The company that took #1 was EA Canada who developed FIFA and Need For Speed which became mega-hits in the UK. EA Canada was #1 the year before as well. Click “Read” for the full Top 100.
