Nintendo Power December 2006: itsy-bitsy Wii news you may have missed

nintendo powerWith the frenzy over anything and everything related to the launching of Nintendo’s Wii, you may have missed some bits and pieces of news that’s been left out of the spotlight. Who can blame you? We got our eyes so glued on the Wii Countdown Clock ourselves, some pretty interesting tidbits managed to slip by us. Anyway, here’s some of the Wii news included in the December issue of “Nintendo Power Magazine” from the list compiled by the Codename Revolution team. See which ones you missed:

  • Harvest Moon Wii release date has been upgraded from TBA to sometime in 2007 to Q4 2007.
  • Metroid Prime 3 is shaping up to be a real eye-pleas er. The graphics has been described as “leaps and bounds” beyond the E3  demo sporting additional lighting effects and a smooth frame rate.
  • Sonic and the Secret Rings will feature more than 30 multiplayer party-style mini-games.
  • Metal Slug Anthology will have more than 35 levels. There’s more! The game will also include Gamecube controller compatibility.
  • Need for Speed Carbon will have 160 events. Reward cards can be used to unlock new cars and parts.
  • Open Season will feature rabbits  as weapons that can be thrown at hunters. There’s also a floating outhouse to ride and a multiplayer game involving porcupines getting stuck to butts.
  • Elebits uses a physics engine which makes items bounce and collide each other like the real thing.
  • Ice Age 2 uses the Wii-mote for swiping. By using the Wii-mote as a virtual hammer, it can also be used fro cracking nuts by stomping on them.
