Nintendo president says worldwide launching of Revolution unlikely
Satoru Iwata, Nintendo president, maintains its earlier stance that world wide distribution of Revolution is improbable this year saying that “we don’t think it’s necessary to do the same simultaneous worldwide launch simply because others are doing this” obviously gunning down the demand that it should compete with other consoles particularly XBox360 and PlayStation 3.
The company is apparently avoiding the same mistake it made after GameCube failed to pry away from the shadow of PlayStation 2, by downplaying the competition between the two consoles. “When it comes to Revolution and PlayStation 3, because those machines are going to be so different, I don’t think consumers will wonder which one they should choose.” Mr. Iwata further explained.
However, Mr. Iwata is still confident that people will embrace Nintendo’s Revolution better this time, claiming that the company is aiming for the gamers to consider that “Revolution is a must-have for them”. Expected to be available by the next Thanksgiving holiday in America, it remains to be seen if Revolution will indeed be a must-have.
Maybe this is a new marketing strategy for Nintendo, make other gamers get tired of using XBox 360 and PS3, then they’ll enter the market, doesn’t make sense to you? For the makers of LameCube, I mean GameCube, I’m sure it does.
