Nintendo reveals lifetime sales figures
Despite getting lots of criticism about its hardware, Nintendo has undeniably sold Wiis and DS’es by the millions. By “the millions”, I mean lots of millions. The publisher has revealed its lifetime sales and the numbers speak for their hardware’s popularity.
Despite getting lots of criticism about its hardware, Nintendo has undeniably sold Wiis and DS’es by the millions. By “the millions”, I mean lots of millions. The publisher has revealed its lifetime sales and the numbers speak for their hardware’s popularity.
All in all, Nintendo has sold 67 million Wiis and 125 million of all DS variants combined. Broken down by region, that’s:
The Americas
- Wii – 32 million
- DS – 45 milion
Japan
- Wii – 9.7 million
- DS – 29.9 million
All other regions (like Europe and everyone else)
- Wii – 25.7 million
- DS – 50 million
Accompanying those hardware sales are 510 million Wii games sold, plus 688 million for the DS. That said, Nintendo’s incredible sales are now waning down, with sales down 23.1% compared the same period last year. Operating income is down 40.8%, and net income down 9.4%.
