Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Image 1Fans in Europe eagerly anticipating Nintendo’s hot-selling Super Smash Bros. Brawl may be a little disappointed to know that the rumored June 6 release of the game is untrue. This is according to Nintendo UK‘s latest statement.

“This is a rumour and purely speculative,” comments Nintendo UK’s front office. “Nintendo is yet to confirm any release dates for Smash Bros.”

The talk of a June 6 release for the Nintendo Wii exclusive fighting game originated from an article posted by website GameRCC claiming that Nintendo confirmed the date during the Macromania Games Awards in France.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl was released in Japan late last month and racked up big numbers, selling 820,000 copies in its first week alone. The March 6 release slated for North America is also expected to rake in some serious figures.
