Nintendo Speaks Up About the Wii’s Release Date
We told you earlier about the rumor that Nintendo was to launch the Wii in late September or October of this year, and also about another one that claimed that the company was gearing up to launch the Wii on November 6.
These (obviously) unrelated rumors and the public’s reaction to them have apparently forced Nintendo’s hand – well, just a little bit. The company has just said that it’s going to announce both the price and release date of the Wii this September. A spokesman for Nintendo claims that there has been no change in the company’s plan to release the console in the last quarter of 2006; it’s just that their plans for their September announcement may be causing some confusion (thus their efforts to clarify matters).
We suppose, as others have done as well, that Nintendo’s announcement rules out a September launch for their eagerly-awaited new console – the last quarter of 2006 stretches from October to December, after all. Just a little bit better, but better, as that famous slogan goes. Now if only Ninty would say something definite about the Wii’s pricing…
