Nintendo trademarks “The Last Story”

Trademark filings have been a steady source of info on what game companies have in store for gamers. It’s always just a name, but sooner or later the whole story’s going to break. Hopefully, it’ll be sooner rather than later for this latest one from Nintendo.

The company has filed trademarks for something called “The Last Story” in Japan. The filing is Japanese, but the title itself is in English. Gaming blog Siliconera notes that Nintendo usually does this for games that they intend to release overseas.

So, what do you guys think it’ll be? Their answer to Final Fantasy, maybe? Here’s hoping we hear more about it either at TGS 09 or at the Kyoto Cross Media Experience 2009 event in October.
