You would think that if a product is in high demand, the creators would capitalize on this and release an even more aggressive advertisement campaign. Such is not the case with Nintendo.
Since the company has been having a hard time meeting the public demand for the Wii, it has decided to pull their advertisements for it to avoid driving up the demand this Christmas season.
A spokesman for Nintendo said that “we have been running the campaign all year round, but we want to take a responsible stance this Christmas and not fuel demand.” He added that since the ad campaign is not season sensitive, they might resume running it after the holidays.
Nintendo seems to be doing all they can to keep up with the increasing demand for their console. To date, the company has increased production of the Wii to 1.8 million units a month.
