Nintendo Wii Australia - Image 1 Nintendo has recently pulled out their Wii advertisements for this Christmas season to avoid ramping up demand. This doesn’t change the fact that the console may actually be in short supply these holidays though. One such location that may suffer a Wii console shortage is Australia.

Nintendo Australia’s managing director Rose Lappin spoke about this saying that they already plan on shipping an additional 20,000 units to the retailers, boosting the number of consoles in the market up to 40,000.

In spite of this, Lappin still believes that they will sell every single unit without fully meeting the public demand for the console. She did point out that this isn’t so bad, saying “I see it as very positive – the Wii is still selling as strongly as it is a year after it launched.”

So does this mean that Australian gamers won’t be getting a Wii from Santa this Christmas? Perhaps. We have to wait and see if the 40,000 units is indeed enough to placate the masses or if the location will suffer from another shortage like last Christmas.
