Nintendo working on a Wii storage solution, but it won’t be external
Laurent Fischer, the same guy behind the “geeks and otaku” comment related to Wii storage space, has recently made it known that Nintendo was actually working on a solution to the Wii storage problem. Learn more after the jump!
It’s become pretty plain to most gamers that the Wii doesn’t have the storage space to keep all those awesome downloads you’ve been picking up from the Wii Shop Channel.
That being said, Laurent Fischer, the same Nintendo representative who said Wii Storage space was a concern only geeks and otaku had, recently uttered some surprising words: Nintendo was working on a solution to the storage problem.
To quote Fischer, “We definitely detect that they [gamers] are serious and we know there is an issue in this, so it’s something that we’re working on.”
The question now is, will it end up being an external solution? Fischer says, to our surprise, that it isn’t:
Definitely there’s no plan to issue hardware, an external hard drive, but we know that we have an issue in that area. It’s very obvious and we’re perfectly aware of it, but there’s nothing we can say beyond this.
When pressed further, Fischer explained that he wasn’t yet privy to the details, as a development team in Japan was working on the solution.
All in all, it’s a particularly cryptic answer that leads us to think that they may be opening up SD card functionality or perhaps a Flash drive solution. Here’s to hoping E3 will have an answer for us.
