Nintendo’s big guns: best selling Wii titles ever released
Six big games for the Wii and each one packing in a at least a million consumers a piece. These are the numbers for Nintendo’s biggest selling titles for the Wii console. These first party games all mark the global marketing phenomenon that the Wii has sparked since it was released last year.
Here’s the short list of the top six games and the number of copies sold for the Wii:
- Wii Sports – 11.1 million
- Wii Play – 6.3 million
- Mario Party 8 – 2.9 million
- Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree – 1.8 million
- Super Paper Mario – 1.74 million
- Mario Strikers Charged – 1.3 million
While it’s no surprise that Wii Sports dominates the list, considering its recent success at the BAFTA awards, it’s quite sad for hardcore gamers like us not see any of the other Nintendo trademark titles like Metroid or Zelda there. To speculate from an earlier point, this just goes to prove how dominant a market Nintendo has spread itself out, by breaking the norm and drawing in the non-gamers into its fold.
