No Japan Xbox 360 price cut, pricing not the issue behind low sales in Japan
Microsoft will not cut prices in Japan, putting the blame of lagging sales not on of pricing issues but due to the Japanese general lack of appreciation to the console’s current software library.
Takashi Sensui, executive officer and chief of the home and entertainment division of Microsoft in Japan, ruled out the price cut as a solution to improve the Xbox’s sales in Japan. He said that the Xbox 360’s sales will eventually improve in the near future since game publishers are now developing games compatible with both the Xbox 360 and Sony‘s PlayStation 3.
In line with Microsoft’s plan to target the favorable attention of Japanese gamers, Sensui has also issued a statement that they will release more RPGs for Microsoft’s next-gen console in the hopes of gaining more leverage in the Japanese market.
