No Kinect launch for China

No kidding. This policy was passed in June 2000 by the Ministry of Culture, which specifically forbade any company or individual to produce and sell electronic game equipment, like game consoles and Kinect, in the country. If you’ll remember, even Sony’s PS2 China launch was cancelled because of this.

 

 

 

 

But it’s been a decade. Surely the Chinese government could have changed their minds already about this? Michael Van Der Bel, COO of Microsoft China merely said that a global company like Microsoft should abide by the rules and regulations of the local government.
