While a lot of us are excited over Grasshopper Manufacture‘s No More Heroes for the Nintendo Wii, the December 6 release of Goichi Suda‘s game in Akihabara, Japan was short of spectacular. Even with Suda 51and executive producer Yasuhiro Wada present at launch to give away rolls of toilet paper, no customers came according to Akiba Blog.

Members of the Japanese gaming press including IT Media, GA Graphic, and Famitsu were there at No More Heroes‘ launch in Sofmap (a retailer in Akihabara), but they were unable to take pictures of people buying the game. After 20 minutes, someone from Famitsu’s publisher Enterbrain decided to grab his own copy.

Apparently, even a cosplayer dressed up as Sylvia Christel wasn’t enough to attract customers. From what we see on pictures from Akiba Blog, No More Heroes‘ launch did at least receive publicity from the press. If any interviews or updates surface, we’ll keep you informed, so watch this space!

Thanks to tipster Bon for the heads up!
