No Oblivion Expansion?

Pete Hines V.P. of Marketing and Public Relation Bethesda Softworks had this to say about reports regarding the existence of an expansion for Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion called "Knights of the White Stallion":

ThereÂ’s no expansion in development called Knights of the White Stallion. ThatÂ’s the name of a quest in Oblivion. Right now we have no announced plans for any new content, add-ons, or expansions. If that changes, weÂ’ll let folks know.

That's a pretty direct response don't you think? So there people. Straight from the V.P.'s Mouth. It's a quest. Not a new expansion. Perhaps though, the people from gamereports asked him the wrong question. Since there's another version of the rumor where the title is "Knights of the Nine".

I'm not quite sure how the rumor started but I'm pretty sure it was game stop's listing of the expansion that got word going. Here's the posting on game stop that raised some eyebrows:

The picture basically says that the online retailer is accepting preorders for the Knights of the White Stallion Expansion Pack for the PC version of the game. Or was, at any rate. GameStop was asking $19.99 for the expansion, and listed it with a November 21 shipping date. The listing is down now. Even searches for it in the xb360 category yields no results.

Remember the rumors that the game is coming out for the PS3? The mill just doesn't stop does it?
