No online multiplayer for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Wii?

Activision's Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock for the Nintendo Wii - Image 1With musically inclined gamers gearing up for the sequel to everyone’s favorite guitar jamming game, Activision‘s Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock promises itself to be quite a treat for those who enjoy rocking out on a guitar controller. However, people have to wonder if Wii console owners getting the game will be on the short end of the stick with Nintendo‘s aversion to having third-party publishers use the Wii for online gaming.

The multiplayer online feature for Guitar Hero III was definitely one of the much awaited modes of play that everyone’s been clamoring for a long time. And it would certainly be a waste if the Wii would skip out on this feature. However, there may yet be a ray of hope out there for Wii owners.

Bryan Lam, Senior PR Specialist for Red Octane, had this to say when pressed for an answer on the matter: “We’re working closely with Nintendo for an online solution, though at the moment we’re unable to confirm the status of the online multi-player.”

It’s not a lot to hope for, but at least the possibility is there. Wii console owners getting Guitar Hero III can only cross their fingers and hope for the best in the meantime.
