No Patch For Tiny Text In Dead Rising, Says Capcom
To all Dead Rising fans who had difficulty with reading the tiny text in the game…sorry, but you may just have to either get an HDTV, sit closer to your TV, or get a new pair of glasses. Capcom has just announced, that no, they will not be releasing a patch that will make the text in the game more readable.
After 1UP has first raised the issue with the company, they were told that the matter would be looked into, but after tons of waiting with no results, they decided to give the developers a call – only to get a resounding “No”.
Apparently, the clamor for a patch to fix the problem with the game’s tiny text, has been going around for a while now, especially for gamers who only use an SD TV. Since the game was designed specifically to be played on an HDTV, which is able to show the text perfectly, SD TV owners had to cope with blurry and almost unreadable text.
Unfortunately, Capcom has figured that “Due to the amount of text and the size of the patch necessary to change the text, a patch isn’t possible for this issue.” Said the company, “We had asked the team if it was even possible but … due to the scope of what a patch would need to cover, it wasn’t possible.”
It’s true that Dead Rising is still a fun game even without having the text. But one has to admit that it does lessen the experience and it can still be rather frustrating, especially when you want to read the menu or the subtitles.
Oh well. Here’s to hoping that Capcom will change its mind eventually.
