No PSP-like sleep mode for PS3
The good thing about the PSP’s Sleep Mode is that the RAM stays loaded even after you flipped the switch to turn it off partially. Aside from saving on batteries, users can continue with what they’re doing, be it a game or a video, even after days of being in this mode. Every PSP owner who plans and/or dreams to get a PS3 is somewhat hoping to have the same Sleep feature on their next-gen console.
A rumor that the PS3 will have a Sleep mode feature actually circulated alongside other PS3 details last week. With the release of the console in Japan, it was unfortunately revealed that the rumor is just that. The closest thing to a sleep mode that the final retail units have is the standby mode, much the same as the PS2‘s. It has not been completely tested as to what the PS3 can do in standby mode. However, we understand a PS3 controller can actually be charged in this state, given that it is connected to a USB.
As of this point, let’s clear things up – we’re not saying the PS3 loads slowly. With the Blu-Ray feature, which Sony has been touting due to of its relatively large capacity, one can’t help but wonder how much hassle it would be to wait all the time for the initial loading sequence. Just a thought.
