North America - Image 1The NPD research group has just sent out figures for North America‘s total video games revenue for the month of June. This latest report indicates that the industry accumulated a total of US$ 1.1 billion in revenue last month, with total sales from January (2007) until June totalling roughly US$ 6.1 billion.

Going into more specific figures, the report indicates that of June’s 1.1 billion, US$ 398.6 million was allocated from consoles and handhelds (Xbox 360, PSP, PS3, Wii, DS), US$ 543 million from software (game) sales, and $ 161.3 million from accessory sales around the country.

For the consoles, US$ 268 million was attributed to home-based systems, while $130.6 went to portables. The top-selling platform of the group for this time is reportedly the Nintendo DS:

  • Nintendo DS: 561,900 sold

  • Sony PSP: 290,100 sold
  • Microsoft Xbox 360: 198,400 sold
