NPD US: Wii still king, Xbox 360 outsold PS3 in October 2008

NPD - Image 1Seems Michael Pachter wasn’t off the mark when he predicted that the Xbox 360 would outsell the PlayStation 3 in October. NPD has revealed the hardware sales figures for last month and, true enough, the Microsoft console sold more units than Sony‘s multimedia monster. Be that as it may, both consoles still paled in comparison to the Nintendo Wii’s sales. Sales figures for both software and hardware after the jump.

Be that as it may, both consoles still paled in comparison to the Wii’s sales. The Sony PlayStation Portable also bowed down to the Nintendo DS in terms of sales. Here’s how the hardware race went down:

  • Wii – 803,000
  • Nintendo DS – 491,000
  • Xbox 360 – 371,000
  • PSP – 193,000
  • PlayStation 3 – 190,000

We’re already coming into the holiday season, so it’ll be interesting to see if Sony manages to bring their sales numbers up. It’s gonna be hard, though, seeing as how the company is still standing strong against a PS3 price cut.
