Oblivion’s PS3 version gets exclusive quest

The Elder Scrolls IV: OblivionPS3 fans have it pretty good these days. Aside from getting Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion as a launch title for the PS3, gamers will also get to go on an exclusive quest that offers an extra 10 to 20 hours of gameplay as well as a collection of super-powerful items.

The quest revolves around the new faction The Knights of the Nine and will span the whole of Cyrodiil. Your mission is to retrieve a set of items known as the Crusader’s Relics. It’s kind of like the Oblivion version of the quest for the Holy Grail, only there’s a lot of grails and instead of giving eternal life they let you dish out eternal pain.

Of course, such a quest isn’t likely to be easy, and this one doesn’t disappoint. You even have to do a lot of legwork even before you can start looking for the relics, since the Knights of the Nine will only let you undertake it if you can prove your dedication to them by kneeling in front of the shrines to the nine gods of Tamriel. Kneeling is easy enough, but the catch is that all the shrines are scattered throughout the 16-square-mile game world. Now that’s a whole lot of walking.

Also, those that lean towards the evil persuasion won’t be able to undertake the quest since the Knights themselves are a bunch of Boy Scouts. So if you’re looking to keep whatever parts of the Crusader’s Relics you find, you’ll have to keep an eye on your infamy level. The Knights will only let you continue your quest if you remain on the path of good. We’re not sure if you’re free to go on a genocidal spree after you finish the quest and get all the Relics, but it’s going to be well worth finding out.
