Official DS Web Browser in June
While there’s already a homebrew web browser out for the DS, that hasn’t stopped Nintendo from working on their Opera browser for the DS, which is currently set for release in June. According to Nintendo Power Magazine, the browser will come on a DS game catridge at the price of 3800 YEN, which is roughly $30 USD. The browser will have two viewing modes; fit-to-width and DS. In the fit-to-width mode, Opera uses both screens for scrolling up and down to view a page. In DS mode, an overview of the web page is pictured in the lower screen and a pink square can be used to select a target area to be displayed on top. Opera assures us that you can expect the full functionality of their desktop browsers on a DS, and it can already accept English and Japanese handwriting. Rumor has it that the US will see this browser in December, while there’s still no word about a European release.
