IGN informs that Bethesda officially confirms – this means that you folks are about to say goodbye to annoying launch windows – that the much awaited The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, for Sony‘s PlayStation 3 console is set to to be available for purchase on March 20th 2007.

This is contrary to previous reports from various sources that dated the game to be released on March 13.

As far as extra content goes, although it has been announced that there won’t be extra downloadable content for the PS3 iteration of Oblivion, unlike it’s PC and Microsoft Xbox 360 brethren, the version that can be acquired will come with the Knights of the Nine side quest built-in. (Dated info, but still worth repeating) Moreover, Bethesda’s Pete Hines did promise that they plan to eventually support downloadable content for the PS3. They’re just not sure how to implement that yet.

See? There’s reason to stay hopeful, put down the pitchforks, and just enjoy the game. Mark your calendars folks, prepare to be sucked into the time-consumption vortex that is the lands of Tamriel come March 20th.
