Official Xbox Magazine: downloadable on Xbox Live soon
If you live on a deserted island with just an Xbox 360 and HDTV to keep you company – we’re assuming the deserted island’s got electricity and all – how do you get your regular dose of the Official Xbox Magazine (OXM)? Via download apparently, according to OXM’s September 2007 issue, by way of a letter written by OXM’s Francesca Reyes (dated this July).
As the magazine’s Editor-in-Chief explained, the publication has begun work on a downloadable version of their paper-based magazine, dubbed OXM Digitial (OXMD), to be available on Xbox Live.
Aside from the standard content, OXMD is expected to feature other goodies that can’t be normally placed on paper, such as gamer pics, themes, (embedded HD) videos, and galleries. OXMD is also expected to carry its own game demos.
At the moment, OXMD is expected to sell for 200 Microsoft Points, although there isn’t any confirmation on what sort of exclusive game demos OXMD #1 will carry. It’s also expected to carry a video version of OXM’s Gears of War “Epic Journey” feature from OXM’s July edition. As for the matter, of OXM’s print version, Reyes further said:
But as a reader of OXM, you’re already paying money for the magazine and the disc, right? Well fear not: You’ll still receive all those demos we run on OXM Digital on the disc. So if you’re not on Live or choose not to use your MS Points on OXM Digital (though the suits upstairs will probably kill me for saying that) we’ll still take care of you with the OXM disc.
We’ll get back to you when they announce OXMD issue #1’s release. Still, we’d like to pose the question to the fans – do you think OXMD will field a demo selection different from its printed brethren?
