Omerta signs up its 1.7 millionth mafia gangster
Omerta v2.5, an online 1930’s gangster MMORPG, marked the registration of its 1.7 millionth subscriber, according to the game’s creator Omerta Game Ltd.
Omerta v2.5 is a free, text-based game based on the life of legendary mafia Don Barafranca. In the game, players pretend to be a character in the underworld of the mafia. The game simultaneously accommodates up to 8,000 players online – each one trying to crawl up the ranks of one of 100 mafia families (each containing up to 1,000 members) and 16 alliances.
Players progress by killing, stealing, robbing banks, breaking people out of prison, dealing booze and drugs, and forging false alliances. The ultimate goal: to become The Don and hold off the thousands mob boss wannabes for as long as possible.
