This week’s Blu-ray releases have one thing in common: they offer wholesome family fun. We’ve got a baseball true story, a magical toy shop, and lots and lots of ice. Yes, The Rookie, Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, and Ice Age are coming to the shelves this week and in case you’re not familiar with the titles, you can check out the full article.
For this week’s batch of Blu-ray releases, we’re got three new movies to grace your Blu-ray home entertainment systems. Sure, this week’s list is not as beefy as the previous weeks’ releases, but rest assured that this batch sports something for you. Or for the kid inside you.
We’ve got wholesome family offerings lined up for you in the form of a true story, a magical toy shop, and extinct animals. It’s The Rookie, Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, and Ice Age. Let’s take a closer look at each of them, shall we?
First off, we have a movie based on a true story. The Rookie centers on the story of ballplayer Jim Morris. He’s a high school baseball team coach whose minor league career got cut short by a shoulder injury. He gives his team a challenge: get into the play offs and he’s going to try out for the Major Leagues. You’d be amazed what a rookie can do.
Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium explores something wonderful and magical, a fantastic toy store that comes to life if only you believe it. Mr. Magorium, the 243-year-old owner of the store decides to “leave” and give the magical store to his manager, Molly Mahoney. Impending change makes the store itself change into something gloomy and sad. Will things go back to the way they were?
There are a couple of things that come to mind when the Ice Age is mentioned. Lots of ice and probably mammoths. The movie Ice Age has both of them and mixes them up with a heart warming story as well. An unlikely herd made up of a mammoth (Manny), a ground sloth (Sid), and a saber-toothed tiger (Diego) find a human baby and decide to bring it back its herd. Add saber-toothed squirrel Scrat in the picture and you’ve got a funny and nutty adventure.
