On the “Shadowfiend breaking shackle” issue
One of the ongoing Priest-related issues in the official World of Warcraft forums involves that useful little Priest spell, Shadowfiend. In case some of you haven’t reached level 66 yet, the spell summons a shadowy fiend that causes the spellcaster to receive equal to the damage that the Shadowfiend dishes out.
The problem’s not with the spell, but with the summoned Shadowfiend itself. See, forum members have been complaining that it’s broken for a few months now. People have reported that the Shadowfiend keeps attacking targets that are under the influence of crowd control spells like shackle, even though a few Blizzard posters have already said that its AI is set so that it prefers not to attack a CC’ed target if it can avoid it.
If you Priests out there have ever had problems with your Shadowfiend breaking shackle, don’t worry because a fix for it is currently being tested on the PTR. Here’s what Nethaera posted on the issue:
Just so everyone is aware, the fix for the Shadowfiend breaking shackle is currently on the PTR. Please be sure to test it there. I just confirmed this as having been fixed and it is the reason why we are stating that the preference for the Shadowfiend is to go after non CCd targets first. The behavior that some player are experiencing on the live realms is being addressed currently and is on the PTR as such.
