Open Source Research Lab Released by Liberlab
The Open Source Liberlab project has released a method for creating a low cost set of tools and hardware that can be used in research, testing, experimentation and educational settings to give hands on experience without requiring a large financial investment or a large laboratory.
The project aims to democratise the process of scientific experimentation in engineering fields involving robotics, automation and the creation of the human interfaces needed to control them. The Liberlab project will be indispensable in educating students efficiently and will bring a level of community that will make the process of experimentation more democratic.
Similar to other open source software projects, the importance of community involvement and democratic decision making is the foundation of the Liberlab project. While much of the online documentation about the project is in French, there are mailing lists that are available in English and if all else fails there’s always Babel Fish.
