Opera Wii free, temporarily
Overload is inevitable whenever surfing the information highway. Customization and optimized implementation of internet technologies are sometimes needed. One company that do such things is Opera Software. With Wii attempting to gain online market, Nintendo signs them up for help.
Opera Wii is available for download from the Wii Shop Channel. As part of marketing strategy, Nintendo just decided to make the full web browser free of charge until June 2007. The temporary promotion is available for all users in all locations. Wii makes it debut on November 19 for U.S., December 2 for Japan and December 8 in Europe. The cost of the console is around $250.
Opera Wii has the same complete standards support as the Opera 9 Desktop browser. Added functionality includes Zoom and Bookmarks. As always, the Wiimote will be an integral part of browsing. Beginning July 2007, users can purchase the Opera browser using Wii points.
