Original DS No Longer in Production?

NDSRetailers in Japan are reporting that they haven’t received a new shipment of the original Nintendo DS in a month now. That would tally up with sales numbers which have had the Nintendo DS on a roller coaster of a ride. Some weeks its been as low as 8,000 units sold!

This hasn’t been announced officially by Nintendo, but it seems obvious that they’re phasing out the old DS in favour of the new DS Lite, just like they did with the GBA and GBA SP. It’s only a matter of time before they do the same in North America, Europe, and Australia. After all, I’m fairly sure that the DS Lite is in much higher demand than the DS. It’s also probably cheaper to manufacture!
