Original Mass Effect squadmates won’t be recruitable in Mass Effect 2
Bioware project director Casey Hudson has revealed that while your original Mass Effect squadmates (the ones left alive, that is) will be appearing in Mass Effect 2, none of them will be recruitable. None. More after the jump.
Bioware project director Casey Hudson has revealed that while your original Mass Effect squadmates (the ones left alive, that is) will be appearing in Mass Effect 2, none of them will be recruitable. None.
Instead, you’ll have to build a team composed of completely new characters, including some “from races that have never been in your squad before.”
“ItÂ’s going to be larger squad, a lot more varied and very, very different kinds of characters,” said Casey. “Everyone that you can take with you is a different character from before.”
Remember when BioWare told gamers to hold on to their Mass Effect saves? That made me happy since I didn’t keep both Wrex and Ashley alive just to lose them in the sequel. This isn’t a deal-breaker for me yet, but it does make me a sad little panda. What about you guys?
Casey also revealed that depending on your choices, Mass Effect 2‘s ending can end up as a huge bloodbath. It’s a bit spoilerish, so if you really want to find out more then feel free to hit the source link.
Mass Effect 2 is slated for an early 2010 release on Xbox 360 and PC.
