OutRun 2006: Coast to Coast game modes

OutrunHere’s a game every PlayStation Portable holders would have a hard time trying to outrun.

OutRun 2006: Coast to Coast is an arcade racing-type game developed by Sumo Digital under Sega’s publication. It’s one badass racing experience that a gamer can realistically enjoy while he’s on his PSP.

If you want to know what I mean, take a look at the list of this game’s playable modes. First off is the (of course) the OutRun mode where 15 stages await the eager gamer. Don’t let its nice colors and realistic background fool you, the stages, particularly the tracks, are set in a crooked, and twisting manner guaranteed to make you feel you’re actually holding a steering wheel. Structures ensure a good number of possible routes thus providing five probable endings (although crashing is always there). Like its predecessor, the gamer can actually choose the race’s difficulty by simply making a left (for easy) or right (for hard) turn everytime the road splits.

The Heart Attack mode challenges the racer to speed through the stages while carrying mini-missions. The tasks can range from simply overtaking other cars to trying to hit those freaking ghosts. While you’re at it, a passenger harasses you with pressuring instructions then rank you after each completed task. A player will soon discover that the usual pick-up lines doesn’t work for this b—-.

Another cool mode is the Time Attack where you are to race against your former self (represented by a ghost) who’s speed is based from your latest fastest record. How’s that for conquering personal demons?

The main mode addition is Coast to Coast. This area combines the difficulties of both OutRun and Heart Attack modes to create an insane experience of single- or multi-stage mission-based series of challenges.

In every mode and every task completed, the racer is granted some OutRun miles, which can later be traded for goods. Sorry, no race babes can be acquired in this game (that’s what real-life racing is for, silly) but rather cool versions of F50, 360 Spider, F355 Spider, Superamerica, Testarossa, 288 GTO, 328 GTS, 250 GTO, 512 BB, F40, 550 Barchetta, F430, and Enzo machines. New music, colour schemes and reversed version of the stages are also attainable.

OutRun 2006: Coast to Coast is set to give wannabe racers a feel of the racetrack. The level of difficulty and entertainment makes the checkered flag worth waving. Who knows, maybe that Ferrari driver got his simulation training from this game. What’s that dude’s name again. Michael Shoemaker?
