According to a recent press release the two companies sent out, Age of Conan has surpassed 1 million beta signups, showing that quite a large amount of interest has been generated for this game.

As Morten Larssen, VP of Funcom Sales and Marketing, noted in the press release,

Funcom has not been able to find any higher beta numbers for MMOs in the western world. We believe it represents the largest ever beta sign-up figure in the history of the genre.

In addition to that impressive number, Funcom also announced that over 800,000 gamers signed up for the Clan of Conan newsletter. Furthermore, Funcom has registered more than 5 million unique visitors to the Age of Conan websites since January 2008.

It’s gearing up to be an interesting launch for the game. Expect Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures to hit store shelves on May 20 in North America and May 23 in Europe.
