Micheal Pachter - Image 1Analyst Michael Pachter has forecasted quite a few trends in the gaming industry. Now, he’s dropped yet another prediction: the Wii will be the best selling console for 2008. However, he also mentioned that both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 will be having a better year than the last one.

According to Pachter, his Wii predictions for 2007 was too low. He has estimated that the console will be the number one console, selling eight million units during the year. He added that if there was ample supply of the console in 2007, the numbers would have declined.

On the other hand, Pachter expects the the PlayStation 3 to double its US sales. However, it will only happen, he notes, if Sony announces a price cut by mid-year. If that were to happen, it would definitely be an interesting turn of events.

Finally, the Xbox 360 is expected to have a better year than it did last year. That’s a pretty tough thing to do considering that Halo 3 gave Microsoft’s console a significant boost in sales.
