Paperboy to start delivering on the XBLA neighborhood

at least he ain't just bummin' around like skater boi... - Image 1After giving you the heads up on the up and coming XBLA titles, we now give you something more specific. That classic coin-op hit from Midway, Paperboy, will be biking its route to your XBLAs on February 14. While he ain’t exactly cupid, it’s just as sweet, anyway.

At 9:00 GMT/ 10:00 CET, Paperboy will be ready and available for your download. Now, while classics are great by themselves, it never hurts to make them more “in the loop”, so to speak. That’s why for this version, the game has been enhanced with original content especially designed for the Arcade.

There will be a new multiplayer mode that allows players to deliver the paper “cooperatively together” on the same console, or thru Xbox Live. Also, added in are new features such as artwork, as well as that modernized audio.

Oh, sorry ’bout that. We’re already rambling on about the new features of the game without even telling you yet what the game is about… lol. Anyhow, so obviously, you’ll play a paperboy here. Your goal is to deliver your client’s morning daily without getting into any sort of trouble, i.e. damaging their property, steering clear of your “not-a-morning-person” neighbors, crazy dogs, and busy vehicles. And as in the real deal with the business, if you don’t do your deliveries well, you will surely end up with a sour client, which won’t hang around for long.

Here are the game features:

  • Seven stages (one for each day of the week) and 3 levels of difficulty – “Easy Street,” “Middle Road” or “Hard Way”
  • New Xbox Live multiplayer: The standard multiplayer mode involves two player co-op play which can take place on the same console or over Xbox Live
  • High scores are tracked on the Xbox Live Leaderboard
  • Earn up to 12 Achievements and 200 Gamerscore points

Available in all territories for 400 Microsoft Points, Paperboy is rated E for Everyone, and is considered as Mild Animated Violence.
