Paramount gets sued over Section 8 trademark

Paramount - Image 1Paramount Digital Entertainment was in talks with TimeGate, discussing “potential business ventures” together for Section 8, a new shooter. After a few meetings, showcase demos, and whatnot, Paramount cancels a meeting and drops all communication with the developer. Three days later, Paramount announces its latest project, partnered with a foreign entity – Section 8. Fishy.

TimeGate was in talks with Paramount Digital Entertainment, discussing “potential business ventures” together for TimeGate’s Section 8, a project for a new shooter. After a few meetings, showcase demos, and whatnot, TimeGate suddenly received a simple voicemail from the assistant of Paramount’s VP of Interactive Development saying that a meeting for later that day was canceled – no explanations and no follow-up came after.

Hold it right there!! - Image 1Three days later, they found out why – Paramount Digital Entertainment announced via press release that it had partnered with a foreign entity for its latest project—Section 8. So now, TimeGate’s outrage reaches the courthouses, claiming that Paramount is trying to steal the Section 8 trademark.

That’s coming from the TimeGate side of the fence, at least. Paramount hasn’t replied to the allegations that “essentially, ParamountÂ’s Section 8 is nothing more than an interactive game,” as TimeGate has said.

That’s real screwed up IF Paramount actually tried to pull a fast one on TimeGate. Best we wait for Paramount’s side before making any judgments, yes?
