There have been a lot of homebrew games for the PlayStation Portable that focus on some really offbeat themes and gameplay mechanics. Developer taeky throws another wacky game into the mix with the car parking homebrew game entitled “ParKing”.
For a first time coder on the PSP homebrew platform, the developer did a pretty good job with the Lua-based game’s visuals. The gameplay can also be quite challenging despite its simple nature as you constantly try to outdo your previous times in completing the parking challenge.
ParKing v1.1 added a couple gameplay tweaks, such as the ability to reverse the curb and back buttons for added convenience as well as an option to park from both directions. The game was tested using a PSP fat running on custom firmware 3.71 M33. To install it, just copy the entire folder into your GAME homebrew directory and run it from there.
Future plans for the game include a way to upload your scores online and compare it with other gamers who’ve played ParKing. Some suggestions, such as the addition of several vehicles and levels, will also be considered by the developer. Hopefully, we’ll be seeing more updates that include these features some time soon.
